The collar problem with any high-top is that it either supports the ankle or it lets you move. Halfstep splits the difference with a two-panel collar joined by a moulded TPU hinge on the lateral side only — the medial side stays soft. Flexion is unrestricted in the sagittal plane and resisted in the frontal plane, which is the direction ankles actually roll. Under the hood the midsole is a dual-density pour, 48C under the heel and 62C under the forefoot, poured wet-on-wet so there is no glue line between them.
